Top 5 mountain biking YouTubers to learn from.

I started mountain biking three years ago. My cycling journey began with purchasing a cheap road bike so that I could ride the bike path along Lake Michigan in Chicago. From there, I became a triathlete, went to cyclocross and gravel, and now I am here. I have had coaches who set up training plans that prepared me for the Belgium Waffle Ride, Rebecca’s Private Idaho, midwest gravel races, and the Chicago Cross Cup year after year. For mountain biking, I jumped on YouTube and watched and watched until I found my crew that I not only enjoyed watching but was learning from. Below are my top five.

1. Rémy Métailler

Rémy Métailler is by far my favorite mountain biking YouTuber. He’s a well-known name in the biking world, especially for his fast, technical downhill riding. His YouTube channel is packed with incredible footage of him taking on some of the toughest trails in places like Whistler and Squamish. What really sets Rémy apart for me is how he breaks down the technical aspects of downhill riding, making even the most difficult skills seem approachable—and, of course, his good looks and charming French accent don’t hurt either! Plus, he just seems like a genuinely nice guy, which adds to his appeal.

Through his videos, I’ve learned so much about line choice, cornering, and managing speed on tricky descents. His attention to detail in explaining different sections of the trail has really helped me build my confidence when approaching technical features. On top of that, when he’s riding solo, his videos can actually be quite relaxing. Watching him tackle various terrains from video to video is almost hypnotic—I often find myself completely sucked in, like I’m in a trance, watching him ride.

In addition to his riding skills, Rémy has partnered with big-name brands like Backcountry, Propain, and Specialized, giving his audience insights into the best gear for hitting the trails safely and effectively.

Whether you're into downhill or looking to improve your overall bike handling skills, Rémy’s channel is an absolute must-watch for any mountain biker.

What I Like About Rémy

Rémy’s channel is very diverse in its content, which is something I enjoy. I can watch him solo a downhill, ride with a buddy, or break down a technical section of a trail in detail. Although I don’t know Rémy personally, he comes across as a genuinely nice person. He’s always concerned about helping people on the trail and seems friendly to everyone he encounters.

His content is also beautifully executed. As an Art Director, I appreciate well-crafted content, and it’s clear that he puts a lot of passion and effort into each video.

As Rémy says. “Yeah, buddy!”

Roxy, or Rafaella Roxy Wieschollek, is another YouTuber I turn to often. Her channel, Roxy Ride and Inspire, is a go-to resource for learning the fundamentals of mountain biking and boosting confidence on the trails. What I love most about Roxy’s content is her focus on technique and mindset. She’s dedicated to teaching what to do and the why and how behind different biking skills, making it easier to understand and apply those lessons on the trail.

Roxy’s videos cover everything from basic body positioning and braking techniques to more advanced cornering and jumping skills. She has a knack for breaking things down in a way that’s easy to grasp, even if you’re starting or looking to refine your abilities.
